[attr="class","pirate-tri"] [attr="class","pirate-tri2"] [attr="class","pirate-content"] [attr="class","pirate-content2"] The blue sky was a stark contrast against the green and slightly yellowed grass of the land beneath it. Dorian was left looking more at the letter in his hand than the land beneath his feet. A request from his mentor to go out to a small town in the Wildefield Prairies. A few people had come down ill and had sent for a doctor. [break][break] He knew Dorian would never pass up an opportunity even if it paid pocket change by comparison. Money was not his motivation; learning was. The details were vague beyond that. Diarrhea and peeling skin were reported but little else. An infection of some kind was his initial thought though how the same infection could affect more than one person at once was beyond him. [break][break] Tucker gave a tug of his sleeve breaking Dorian from his revere. The lickitung pointing to a house in the distance. Just another issue to contend with all the way out here. Most of these people were farmers and thus their houses were far between with crops on either side. The crops this year looked like they had already been harvested as the browned stalks of their crops lined themselves with the grass that was quickly reclaiming the land. [break][break] "Worth a shot," Dorian replied to unspoken words. They knew the man who had sent the letter was on this road somewhere. Yet, out here all the houses kind of looked the same and he wasn't familiar with the people. [break][break] His steps took a quicker pace making Tucker hobble along beside him. His knock was short but sharp as he patiently awaited an answer. A woman answered; her skin pale and her eyes drooping in sluggishness. [break][break] "Is this Mr. Harrison's," Dorian inquired. [break][break] "Two houses farther to the east but on the same side," she responded. She looked ready to get this interaction over with. [break][break] "If you do not mind," Dorian said earning a blank look. "You seem unwell. Is everything alright?" [break][break] "The children are sick. I was up all night with them is all. Their stomachs were hurting as well as their feet," she simply shook her head. She was weary and had felt nauseous and itchy all night herself. Though it seemed worse with the children. [break][break] "Mr. Harrison called for a doctor because a lot of people have gotten sick around here. If you wouldn't mind Miss's I'd like to have a look at them and yourself," Dorian said seeing a flicker of recognition in her face. Or perhaps it was relief as she stepped out of the doorway to let him in. [break][break] Dorian did his best not to disturb the exhausted children too much as he checked them. Vomiting, diarrhea, and a rash on their feet that made the skin peel. It had to be an infection of some sort in his mind. Though he yet again wondered how it could be so wide-spread. Mrs. Dena seemed relieved her children were being seen though their was that flicker of fear in her eyes as he rubbed ointment into their feet. [break][break] "Just...how much will this cost," she questioned as he began to do the same to hers. She hadn't had an outbreak yet but he wasn't taking a chance. [break][break] "However much the town can pay. I'm not a greedy man Mrs. Dena. My job is to help lives not ruin them. Financially or otherwise," Dorian responded seeing some relief in her face. His mind was far from the cost. As he wondered just how many houses were affected. He had expected a few people not entire households to be affected. This may be too much for just one person to handle.
